I’ve shared the name Warren Johnson. Warren lives in Forks, Washington. He is a Corrections Officer in the Washington Prison System. He also, because of his faith and vision, studied, applied and received a Licensed Minister authorization. Now he’s serving the Congregational Church of Forks.
Over the years—okay, decades, about to start the fifth—there are few pastors for whom I have greater respect and appreciation. Warren’s the real deal. He never amputates the Gospel. Rather, he has brought together the pastors of Forks and meets with them to pray and to consider the ways in which Christ’s command to care for “the least of these” can become manifest. He leads his congregation in community ministry where the hungry are fed and clothed [lots of rain in Forks—over 100 inches annually] and given comfort.
As 2015 concluded and 2016 is the correct date on all correspondence, Warren sent me this prayer. I treasure it, have printed it and will now have it benefit my prayer life each dawning day. In short, Warren’s ministered to me…and I’m the better for it.
Dear Lord, let me repeat:
May the Holy Spirit give you the knowledge and wisdom through God’s will. Amen.
