Slapping A Bee Hive

It may not mean much to the world, let alone to Texas. But. Know what? It means something to me and Diane. Tomorrow we’re heading to Whataburger and ordering lunch!

Let me explain. For many of us, literally no matter which area of leaning we claim—be it liberal or conservative, be it which flag we’d wave, be it which candidate we support, it’s more than significant it MAKES A DIFFERENCE in our own life what we say, what we do…or what we refuse to do.

To that end, Whataburger calls us. Because. A HUGE BECAUSE. They have just stated they will not allow any customer service to anyone who’s carrying openly a firearm. Hey. You think that’s academic here? You think NRA has no voice? Well, their voice is not background music in an elevator. We are not here to pick the floor. And taking on the NRA is akin to slapping a bee hive.

Still. Today the CEO of Whataburger has made it clear for 780 of their stores…and that’s the total, not exempting any Texas restaurants: they will not serve people with firearms out and open. Or whatever it’s called. For you see in Texas, they take “lock and loaded” to a very public way. And you thought Bonnie and Clyde were metaphors.

So. Lunch tomorrow is set. But even more it’s a very modest way to not be background music…but to sing our song of what we believe offers something in which we believe. And. Their hamburgers are not bad.

About Mark H Miller

Diane and I live in Leander, Texas. This past June 17, 2015 I celebrated the 49th anniversary of my ordination. We returned to Texas after three years in Washington, during which I served as interim minister in Bellevue/Eastgate and Mercer Island. Am planning to begin a 5th novel that will have my protagonist, Tricia Gleason, serve a year in licensed ministry in Snoqualmie, Washington. The novel, "The Lemon Drop Didn't Melt," will find Tricia wrestling with ministry challenges. None of which more daunting than someone wanting her breathing to stop. All the published novels are available on Amazon and Amazon Kindle under Mark Henry Miller. A primary goal in our return to Texas is to make sure grandchildren get lots of attention--here and in Chicago and Washington, D.C. Traveling is definitely an activity that will not slow down. With that, of course, fishing will happen. To that the t-shirt is apt, "I fish; therefore I am." In addition to novels, the book of Blogs, "Voice Of My Heart," is also available on Amazon.

Well I’m headed to Whataburger soon, too. Glad to read this. I hadn’t seen the news. They will get my business ands I am going to spread the word.
